Salvation 101

Where it all begins

Webster's 11, New College Dictionary,

sal-va-tion (sal-va'shen)  1.a. Preservation or deliverance from danger, evil, or difficulty.  b. A source, means, or cause of salvation.  2.a.Deliverance from power or penalty of sin; REDEMPTION.   b. Christian Science. The realization and demonstration of Life, Truth, and Love as supreme over all, carrying with it the destruction of the illusions of sin, sickness, and death.

Before Time Began

Salvation 101 - Session One

There is good and evil in this world we live in. For the Judo-Christian, God is considered good or the Good One, and Lucifer, Satan, Devil, the Evil One, etc., is considered evil or the evil one.

Before time, as we know it, "God was", along with his many angels.  One angel was Lucifer, who believed he was more beautiful than any other angel, and even more beautiful than God.  A celestial battle pursued, and God cast Lucifer (Satan) out of Heaven along with all of the angels (now called Demons) that followed Lucifer, or approximately one-third of all the angels (Demons) that was in Heaven.

Shortly after God created man and woman, Lucifer, (or as he is now known, Satan), deceived Adam and Eve, at the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil", to taste the forbidden fruit from the tree. They had disobeyed God.  After this, Satan, the Evil One, with his Demons, have been running rampant over the face of the world, deceiving everyone.

The Cain and Able Story

Genesis Chapter 4 has the story of Adam and Eve’s first two sons.

"Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have produced a man with the help of the LORD."  Next she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground.   In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, and Abel for his part brought of the firstlings of his flock, their fat portions. And the LORD had “Regard” for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had “No regard”. So Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.  The LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it." Genesis 4:1-7.

The Scripture continues with Cain slaying Abel.

Point to note:  Cain offered to God a grain offering and Abel offered to God a firstling sheep offering.  The Lord regarded/accepted Abel’s offering and had no-regard/rejected Cain’s offering.

The answer can be found in Hebrews 11:4 - "By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did.  By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead."  Abel had a strong faith in God and was a righteous man, and Cain fell far short of God’s expectations, and Cain slew Abel as a result.

Second point to note:  Abel’s offering of a firstling sheep is the first animal sacrifice offering listed in the Holy Scriptures, and God accepted this offering.  The sheep had to give up its life for this offering to happen.

It Happened in Babel

Salvation 101 - Session Two

As the population grew, most people continued to follow their sinful ways, buying into what Satan and his Demons guided them to do.  Everyone wanted to get to Heaven, but most were not following God, it was more fun to follow Satan.  This group decided to build a very tall structure into Heaven.

God stepped in and made it impossible to talk to each other, and the construction stopped. The people regrouped with those speaking the same language, and moved to different parts of the earth.

The Blessing of Abraham

Salvation 101 - Session Three

God watched these various groups, and found one group that believed in worshiping him; God made a covenant with their leader, Abraham, that he will bless Abraham's children, and they will be many nations. When this group realized they were not doing God's will, they would repent, and offer "Burnt Offerings" to God for forgiveness. The aroma was so good and pleasing to God, He forgave the people of their past sins.

It Happened in Egypt

Salvation 101 - Session Four

This group of Abraham's decedents became known as Israel, and found themselves being slaves to the people of Egypt.  Moses became their leader, and with God's help, after the ten plagues that was imposed on Egypt, and the pharaoh of Egypt would still not allow this Israel group to be free and leave.

God ordered each family to kill a lamb and have a lamb stew dinner, with unleavened bread. The blood of the "Sacrificial Lamb" was to be placed on the door posts, so the Angel of Death would pass over their house. This dinner is known as the "Passover Supper".  Note the "Sacrificial Lamb" had to give up its life for this to happen.

After the pharaoh lost his son that night, he finally told the Israel group to get out of his sight, and they left, going through the Red Sea on dry ground.

The will of God

The will of God - is being 100% obedient to God. This means 100% of our time, energy, money, etc. to be spent doing what God expects of us, and in his service. Not breaking even one iota of the Law. Morale perfection is what is required. If a person can not live their life meeting this standard, God considers them a sinner.  No person alive can achieve being this perfect.

We received Laws to live by

Salvation 101 - Session Five

Moses lead this Israel group in the desert for some 40 years. Some good thing came out of this 40 years in the desert, God gave the Israelites a group of laws to live by. Some explained their relationship with God, some on how to treat family members and other people, and some covered health issues,  The law known as the "Ten Commandants" is the basis of many civil laws in many countries today.

At the end of the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, God gave them much of the land east of the Mediterranean Sea.

They won some, and lost some

Salvation 101 - Session Six

During the next few centuries, this Israel nation had judges, kings, and fights among themselves. They were overthrown by other nations, rebuilt themselves.  Many times they would begin to worship other gods and live an evil life style, which today we call sin. God sent prophets who warned the people to return and worship God, and a savior would come to save their nation.

King Solomon built a Temple to God, where the people could come and have "Burnt Offerings" to God, to ask forgiveness for not doing the Will of God. These Burnt Offerings were grain offerings for the poorer, and animal offerings for the more wealthy. The animals had to give up their life's for this to happen.

Finally, the Roman Empire took control of Israel, and the people were looking for a military leader to save Israel from the Romans, and there were plenty of those that tried.

Abraham and Isaac’s visit to a Moriah Mountain

Genesis 22:1-14 - This story begins with God testing Abraham’s faith, by asking Abraham to offer his son, Isaac, as a burnt offering to God.  Abraham and son, Isaac, travel to the land of Moriah, climb one of the mountains, and built an alter for the sacrifice.  Isaac was put on the alter, and an angel called to Abraham, and stopped him. A ram was found nearby, and was used as the burnt offering to God.

Abraham’s faith and trust in God, is the type of faith and trust we must all have in God.

Abraham’s son, Isaac, was expected to give up his life to prove Abraham’s faith and trust in God.

The Christmas Story

Salvation 101 - Session Seven

This Lesson begins with the familiar "Christmas Story". Isaiah 7:14 NIV "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel".  Micah 4:2 NIV "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,--".

History tells us this Jesus was trained by his father in the craft of carpentry. He studied the Scriptures in the synagogue, and had a keen sense of the interruption of these scriptures.

At about age 30, Jesus went to the Jordan River and was baptized by John the Baptist. He immediately went into the wilderness and was confronted by Satan in a battle, and Jesus won.

Jesus then ministered to the people for about the next three years.

The First Palm Sunday

Salvation 101 - Session Eight

About a week before a Jewish festival, the Passover, Jesus and his followers entered the city of Jerusalem, and were greeted by people waving palm branches.

This Changed Everything

Salvation 101 - Session Nine

The "Passover Feast" every year was to remember when the Jewish people were freed from Egyptian slavery. They served lamb stew, unleavened bread, and wine.

During this dinner Jesus and his closest  followers were having, Jesus took some bread, broke it, and said, "Take and eat; this is my body".  Then he took a cup, gave thanks and said, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sin". This is why bible believing Christians have "Communion" frequently.

False Arrest and Conviction

Salvation 101 - Session Ten

The religious leaders of the Jewish community, known as Pharisees, were upset with Jesus' new teaching, and wanted to destroy him.

These Pharisees paid one of Jesus' disciples, Judas Iscariot, to show to the Roman soldiers who this Jesus was, with a kiss.  The Roman soldiers immediately arrested Jesus.

The Roman courts could not find any wrong in Jesus, but, they condemned Him to death, because a group of the Pharisee followers hollered to have Him crucified.

The Roman soldiers beat this Jesus, made Him carry this wooden log to a site known as Calvary, drove spikes in his hands and feet, and nailed Him to this wooden Cross.  They then dropped this cross into the ground and waited for Him to die.

After he gave up his spirit, a Roman soldier, to guarantee he was dead. jabbed a spear into Jesus' side, and blood gushed out.

The Old and New Covenant

covenant (kuv' e-nant) n. 1. A binding agreement made by two or more persons or parties : COMPACT. (Webster's II, New College Dictionary).

In the Christian definition, a covenant is a promise of God to his chosen people.

Old Covenant - Read Genesis 17:1-21.   Basically, God is promising Abraham, through his two sons: Isaac and Ishmael, that he will be the father of many nations, if they will continue to worship God.

Isaac became the nation of Israel, and Ishmael became the nation of Islam.  Since the seventh century, these two nations have been in constant conflict.  History has proven, Abraham has become the father of many nations.

New Covenant -   Jesus said during the Last Supper, ".....for this is my blood of (new) covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:26-28, RVS.

The perfect "Son of God" had to give up his life for this to happen, or Satan would have won.

Christ Jesus is the New Covenant

And the only way to receive God's Grace and Salvation!

What Have They Done With Him?

Salvation 101 - Session Eleven

His body was taken down, wrapped in new linens, placed in a newly dug tomb, and a large stone was placed in front of the opening.

The next day was the Sabbath, and no work was to be done. On the following day at daybreak, two of Jesus' lady followers went to the tomb, found the stone rolled away, and the tomb empty.  Two angels approached the ladies and said, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he is risen."

How does this all fit together?

Salvation 101 - Session Twelve

First, we must look at our own lives, have we been doing God's will, or have we been living a life of pleasure, doing things that are morally wrong, and not having God as part of our life, which is called "Sin".  We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  So what can be done.

In Lesson Three, we learned:  This one group realized they were not doing God's will, they would repent, and offer burnt offerings to God. The aroma was so good, and was pleasing to God, and God forgave the people of their past sins. Note: The "Sacrificial Animal" had to give up it's life for this to happen.

In Lesson Four, we learned:  God ordered each family to have a lamb stew dinner, with unleavened bread. The blood of the "Sacrificial Lamb" was to be placed on the door posts, so the Angel of Death would pass over that house. This dinner is known as the "Passover Supper".  The "Sacrificial Lamb" had to give up it's life for this to happen.

In Lesson Nine, we learned:  During the last supper before Jesus lost His life, he took a cup, gave thanks and said, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sin".  The "Lamb of God", (Jesus), had to give up his life for this to happen.

Within the next 14 hours after this, the Satan driven Pharisees had Jesus arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced to death, beaten, and nailed to a cross to die.  This was the final "Sacrificial Lamb of God", so that all people who accept Jesus as their Personal Lord and savior, will have their sins forgiven, and can be back into Gods favor.

There is a familiar saying: "Jesus gave up his life to save us from our sin".

Grace - Has been defined as "The love and mercy given to us by God, because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it".  Said another way, Grace is the free and unmerited favour of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowing of blessings. It is God's gift of salvation granted to sinners for their salvation.

Simply put, We have all sinned and don't deserve to spend eternity with God in Heaven.  God's love for us and the forgiveness of our sins is called Grace.

Through the Grace of God, and our faith in Jesus Christ, we will spend eternity with God and Jesus in Heaven.

Steps Every Person Needs to Take

Salvation 101 - Session Thirteen

Salvation is the deliverance from danger and evil, ie., Satan. The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. Satan's path leads to the Fiery Pit, or Hell.  Several steps must be taken to receive this Salvation.

You have heard the Word of God, but you must LISTEN to what it says.

You must BELIEVE in the Word of God, and hold it in your heart.

You must CONFESS --- 1) You must look back at your old worldly sinful nature, acknowledge to God your sins of the past. And 2) You must confess that Jesus Christ is your  personal Lord and Savior.

You must REPENT, We have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.  You must feel remorse for your old worldly sinful nature, and deep in your heart, promise to change to a new person under the guidance of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

You must be BAPTIZED,  This is an outward sign of you washing away the old you and your sins, and putting on a new you.  I recommend full submersion.

You must LIVE the new life as a Christian, study the Word of God, develop a prayerful life, and join a bible believing fellowship or church. Endure to the end, do not waver from the Truth, and remember, Jesus Christ is coming back for you.

A prayer of Salvation is the prayer to receive Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Savior. You must admit you have sinned and fallen short of the "Glory of God"; truly believe Jesus Christ was sacrificed on the cross for your sins, died, and arose from the dead for you; confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of your life and that you will follow his teachings throughout your life; ask Jesus to come into your heart and soul; and be baptized to wash your sins making them as white as snow.

For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not parish,

but have everlasting life.

 John 3:16 (KJV)

--------------------------------------------------------------

Its just that simple!

Well, not exactly, even Satan knows Jesus is the Son of God, and he and all his followers (Demons) will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire.  We do not want to be there with them.

We must believe that God sent Jesus Christ to save us from this condemnation, and that we will spend eternity with God and Jesus in Heaven.  This belief must be a personal commitment between you and God.

What Church shall I attend and join?

Find a Bible believing congregation, that does not change the teachings of Jesus to suit their needs and desires of  today's society. There are assemblies that structure their church around the first century church and teachings.

Begin reading the bible, I recommend starting with the book of "Mark".  This book was written by John Mark, a teenager that traveled with Jesus and His disciples, while Jesus was in the ministering phase of his life.  John Mark witnessed the many miracles Jesus preformed, and was the first to write them down.

The Holy Land Experience

The Holy Land Experience – “The Trinity Broadcasting Network” was created a theme park in Orlando, Florida, USA, based on life of the Jewish nation and the life and teachings of Jesus.

It will require two days to tour the various displays and live performances. The main auditorium, the “Church of All Nations”, has excellent live performances, continually, throughout the day.  Most of the displays will have live events at specified times. The live performances, sculptures, and displays are all within a short distance to each other. All attractions are ADA accessible.  There are several attractions outside the gate, so allow extra time to experience them.

Every Christian, and non-believer also, should experience this inspirational Holy Land theme park.  Plan to visit for both days.  The park is open 10 AM until 6 PM, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

For additional information, and ordering advance tickets, surf their website, www.holylandexperience.com.

New Page 1

About this time during most television evangelists programs, the evangelist will say, "If you repeat this prayer that I am about to say, you will be saved".  Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.  Hurry to a church and pastor, and have them help you through the required steps necessary to find Salvation and eternal life.

As baptism is an important step in Salvation, there are some churches that will baptism you immediately after you Believe and Confess, and some will baptize you in a lake or river.  Most churches will baptize you during or after a church service.  Chose to be baptized however seems right for you.

And may God bless you, and keep you safe, in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
